    Add your API key in settings

    Go to Settings → AI Keys and paste your OpenAI or Anthropic API key. Koachly validates the key and shows which models are available on your account.

    Choose your model tier

    Koachly uses a tiered model architecture: fast/cheap models for real-time coaching, larger models for post-call analysis. Map each tier to the model you prefer from your account.

    All AI calls route through your key

    From that point on, every AI operation — live coaching, call scoring, summary generation, objection detection — runs against your API key. Your usage, your billing.

What is included

Everything bring your own ai keys ships with

  1. OpenAI and Anthropic

    Koachly supports OpenAI (GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini) and Anthropic (Claude Haiku, Sonnet) API keys. Bring whichever you have a contract or preference for.

  2. Per-tier model mapping

    Koachly's tier architecture means real-time calls use fast, cheap models while post-call analysis uses higher-capability ones. Map each tier to the model that fits your cost and quality targets.

  3. Data stays in your AI account

    When you use your own key, AI calls go through your OpenAI or Anthropic account — subject to your data processing agreements, not Koachly's. Useful for teams with specific data residency or DPA requirements.

  4. Your usage dashboard

    Monitor AI consumption in your OpenAI or Anthropic dashboard as you would any other usage. Koachly adds call volume and per-call token estimates in its own settings page for cross-reference.

  5. Encrypted at rest

    Your API key is encrypted at rest using AES-256 and never logged in plaintext. Only the worker that makes AI calls can decrypt and use it.

  6. No Koachly AI markup

    You pay OpenAI or Anthropic directly. Koachly does not mark up AI costs when you bring your own key — the value is in the coaching layer, not the model access.

FAQ

Questions about bring your own ai keys

Koachly currently supports OpenAI (GPT-4o and GPT-4o-mini) and Anthropic (Claude Haiku 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5.5). Support for Google Vertex AI and Azure OpenAI is on the roadmap for enterprise customers.

Koachly is tested and tuned on specific model versions — the default configuration uses the same models regardless of key ownership. If you map a tier to a less capable model (for cost reasons), coaching quality for that tier will reflect the model's capability. We recommend keeping the analysis tier on a high-capability model.

Yes. API keys are encrypted at rest with AES-256 encryption. The plaintext key is only decrypted by the Cloudflare Worker that makes AI calls — it is never logged, never exposed in API responses, and never accessible to Koachly staff.

Yes. Remove your API key from Settings → AI Keys and Koachly reverts to its own AI infrastructure immediately. No data is lost; call history, scores and coaching reports are stored independently of which AI provider generated them.
