FeaturesTalk/Listen Ratio
Talk less. Win more. See your talk/listen ratio on every call.
Koachly measures how much you talk vs. listen on every call — so you know if you're dominating the conversation or losing it.
The basics
What is the talk/listen ratio?
The talk/listen ratio is the percentage of a call where you speak versus where the other person speaks. It is one of the most reliable signals of whether a conversation is a monologue or a real exchange. Talking too much loses deals. Talking too little loses control. The ideal ratio depends on what kind of call you are on.
| Call type | Ideal ratio (you / them) | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cold call | 50 / 50 | You need enough time to pitch, but silence and questions keep the prospect engaged. |
| Discovery call | 30 / 70 | Your job is to listen. Ask a question and let them talk. You learn more when they do. |
| Demo | 60 / 40 | You are showing the product, but pausing for reactions and questions keeps it two-way. |
During the call
Inline coaching on your talk/listen ratio
If you have been talking for more than 3 minutes without a pause, Koachly shows a quiet nudge on your screen. No sound. No distraction. Just a prompt to ask a question and hand the floor back. The nudge disappears the moment the other person starts speaking.
After the call
Post-call breakdown: who spoke when
After every call, Koachly generates a full timeline of who spoke at each moment. You see your total talk time, their total talk time, your final ratio, and the points in the conversation where the balance shifted. If you ran long on the pitch or stayed quiet through a crucial objection, it shows up here with the exact timestamp.
How it improves over time

One call is a snapshot. Thirty calls is a pattern. Koachly tracks your talk/listen ratio on every call and shows you a rolling average so you can see whether you are improving. Filter by call type — cold call, discovery, demo — to compare the ratio where it actually matters.
