This guide covers how to use Koachly with Google Meet from first install to your first coached call. Koachly works alongside Meet through a browser extension that shows live coaching tips on your screen during the call. The other participants see nothing different. There is no bot that joins the meeting, no second participant, and no change to how Meet looks or sounds for the prospect.

Install the Koachly browser extension

Koachly's live coaching runs through a Chrome or Edge extension. It reads audio from your active Meet tab and surfaces tips in an overlay on your screen. The extension does not record calls and does not transmit audio beyond what is needed to generate tips in real time.

To install:

  1. Visit the Koachly Google Meet integration page and follow the link to the Chrome Web Store (or Edge Add-ons for Edge users).
  2. Click Add to Chrome and confirm the prompt. The extension will appear in your browser toolbar.
  3. Click the Koachly icon in your toolbar and sign in. If you do not have an account yet, you can create one free from the sign-in screen.
  4. On the extension settings screen, select Google Meet as your primary platform.

Installation takes under two minutes. No changes to your Google Workspace account are required at this stage.

Enable tab audio sharing on Google Meet

This is the step that most users miss on first attempt. Google Meet runs in a browser tab, but Chrome and Edge do not let extensions access tab audio by default. You need to enable tab audio sharing each time you start a new coached Meet session.

Here is how to do it:

  1. Join or start a Google Meet call in Chrome or Edge.
  2. In your browser's address bar area, look for the screen-share or tab-share icon, or go to Meet's Present now menu at the bottom of the screen.
3. Select A tab from the sharing options.
  4. Choose your current Meet tab from the list.
  5. Check the box labelled Share tab audio at the bottom of the dialog.
  6. Click Share. You can stop the screen share immediately if you do not want to present your screen to the other participants. The key step is that enabling tab audio sharing grants the browser permission to pass that tab's audio to extensions.

This permission resets when the tab is closed or the Meet session ends. You will need to repeat the step at the start of each new call. It takes about ten seconds once you have done it a few times and it becomes habit.

Start a Google Meet call with live coaching

With the extension installed and tab audio enabled, Koachly is ready to coach on your next Meet call. Here is the sequence that works best:

  1. Open Koachly in a separate browser tab before the call. Navigate to your active playbook — the set of rules that governs what tips appear during the call. If you have not configured a playbook yet, Koachly's default sales playbook will run.
  2. Join your Google Meet session.
  3. Enable tab audio sharing as described above. The Koachly extension icon in your toolbar will turn green to confirm it is actively listening.
  4. Coaching tips will appear in the Koachly overlay on your screen as the conversation progresses. Tips are triggered by conversation patterns, topic changes, and pacing signals — for example, a reminder to check in with the prospect if you have been speaking uninterrupted for two minutes, or a prompt to confirm a next step when the conversation starts to wind down.

More detail on how tips are triggered and how to adjust your playbook is on the live coaching features page. Position the overlay in the corner of your screen so it stays in your peripheral vision without covering the Meet window.

Troubleshooting common issues

The extension icon is grey during my Meet call.
Tab audio sharing was not enabled, or the Meet tab was refreshed after enabling it. Repeat the tab audio steps above. Make sure you are in Meet's browser client, not a Progressive Web App install of Meet.

No tips appear even though the icon is green.
Check that your playbook has active rules and has not been paused in Koachly settings. Also confirm that the call language in your Koachly account matches the language being spoken on the call.

I use Google Meet through a Google Workspace account with strict browser policies.
Some Workspace accounts restrict browser extensions through policy. Check with your IT administrator whether Chrome extensions are allowed for your profile. If extensions are restricted, Koachly's system audio input method (available in Settings) works without an extension and is compatible with managed Workspace environments.

The other participants say there is an echo.
Koachly reads audio — it does not add audio to the call. Echo is a microphone or speaker issue unrelated to Koachly. Using headphones eliminates feedback loops and also tends to improve audio quality for the coaching engine.

The live coaching help docs have a full troubleshooting reference if these steps do not resolve the issue.

Getting the most from Koachly on Meet calls

The teams that see the fastest improvement from Koachly on Google Meet share a few habits. First, they spend time on the playbook before using it live. The default playbook is a starting point — playbooks configured around your specific product, common objections, and the deal stages your reps handle most often produce significantly more useful tips.

Second, they review the post-call summary consistently. Koachly generates a summary after each call that includes which tips fired, whether the rep acted on them, and the call score for that session. Reviewing this takes a few minutes and builds a clearer picture of patterns over time than any single call review can.

Third, they test on an internal call first. Making a practice call with a colleague before using Koachly on a live prospect call gives reps a chance to experience the tip overlay in a low-stakes setting and adjust the position and size to suit how they work.

Koachly works with Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams and is free to start. Live coaching tips appear on the rep's screen during the call — no bot, no additional participant, no disruption to the conversation the prospect experiences.
